Humansdorp was founded in 1849 as a church village on the farm Rheeboksfontein, 70km from Port Elizabeth. It is situated at the foot of the Kouga Mountains only 2km off the N2. It is the gateway to the magnificent Garden Route and the entrance to the shores of St Francis Bay. The fynbos is nowhere else as exquisite as in the Humansdorp and Kouga Regions apart from Namqualand.
