Boshof was founded in 1856 and is situated between Bloemfontein and Kimberley. Mixed farming is practiced in the pleasant surroundings of Boshof. The town acts as the administrative centre of the Goldfields. The town was the scene of some fierce fighting in 1900s during the South African War.
